Perrie Edwards shuts down speculation she’s ‘drifted apart’ from Little Mix bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock

Perrie Edwards has shut down reports that she and Leigh-Anne Pinnock are “drifting apart” as she praised the newly solo artist’s debut single.

Over the weekend, it was reported that Little Mix fans feared the bandmates were no longer close after Edwards was noticeably absent from several of Pinnock’s recent milestones, including her and Andre Gray’s wedding in Jamaica.

However, Pinnock dispelled the speculation on Monday when she called Edwards during her appearance on BBC Radio 1’s Breakfast Show with Greg James.

The Don’t Say Love hitmaker was partaking in one of James’ segments, Sit Down, Stand Up, when she contacted her former bandmate to ask the all-important question, was she sitting down or standing up?

After finding out that “her sister” was importantly sitting down, the bandmates professed their “love” for one another before the Geordie singer revealed she was currently working on her own solo music.

“I’m just en route to work,” Edwards shared. “I have a little writing camp going on in my hometown of Weymouth which is really fun. It’s where I grew up, we thought we’d do it here.”

Despite being excited for her own solo project, Edwards heaped praise on Pinnock’s catchy debut release, admitting she can’t get the tune out of her head.

She continued: “Weymouth is lit but I tell you what’s even better than Weymouth: Leigh-Anne’s new song.

“Leigh-Anne I’m obsessed, literally obsessed. Can’t get over it. It’s in my head 24/7 so thank you for that.”

Their outpouring of love for one another comes after fans speculated that the ladies were drifting apart after Edwards missed Pinnock’s wedding and hen-do, as well as the launch party for new single Don’t Say Love – which were all attended by their fellow bandmate Jade Thirlwall.

Although, Edwards did take to her Instagram Stories following the song’s debut, writing: “The most epic video ever, so proud of my [Leigh-Anne Pinnock]”.

In light of the Geordie’s absence from several of her pal’s events, fans took to Twitter to ask where she was, with one writing at the time: “I see Jade at the wedding, wonder where Perrie is?”

“Is it just me who thinks Perrie and Leigh-Anne are not as close anymore,” another wrote. “Like yeah, they comment on each other’s posts but I haven’t seen them with each other in so long. It’s kinda sad.”

While another jumped to their defence, insisting: “Perrie lives far from both Jade and Leigh-Anne, give the girl the benefit of the doubt, goddamnit. We know nothing about what goes on behind closed doors.”
