Perrie Edwards' mum confused the singer's waters breaking with bladder weakness

Perrie Edwards has shared an amusing story about the birth of her first child earlier this year.

The Little Mix star has revealed that her mother Deborah, who was staying with her pregnant daughter, mistook the singer's waters breaking for Perrie having a little accident.

Perrie, 28, made the hilarious confession during a candid Instagram chat with fans on Thursday.

The mum-of-one explained that her mother thought she couldn't control her bladder due to being heavily pregnant when the star's waters broke three weeks before her due date.

Deborah had come to stay with the pregnant star as she prepared to give birth, arriving on the Wednesday and the singer's waters breaking the Friday night while she was asleep in bed.

The South Shields born star told her followers how she ran into her mother's room to tell her that her waters had broke, but her mum put the wetness down to a lack of bladder control in the later stages of pregnancy.

Perrie then went on to recall insisting something was "seriously happening", as she soon realised it was almost time to give birth.

Perrie recalled saying: "No, mum, something is seriously happening, I think my waters have broke."

The award-winning singer added that despite the dramatic incident, welcoming her first child into the world was the most "exciting" and "amazing" experience of her life.

Perrie welcomed her little one into the world on August 21 with her fiancé, Liverpool FC player Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

At the time of the star's waters breaking, her footballer partner was staying in a hotel with work and Perrie's mum was initially reluctant to call him away in case it was just a toilet accident.

Despite baby Axel arriving ahead of schedule, the former X Factor star has no complaints.

"I'm not mad at three bonus weeks, as we keep saying," the singer confessed on her Instagram Live.

The star also gushed about motherhood, saying: "Most amazing experience of my life, literally can't explain how amazing it was. He [Axel] is just the best."

Earlier this week, the new mother revealed a new venture away from the music industry - showing no signs of slowing down during maternity leave.

The stylish star revealed on Instagram that she was releasing her first ever clothing collaboration, Disora.

Showcasing some potential items from her first drop, the singer-turned-designer posed in front of a swanky PR case as she introduced the brand to her followers on Instagram.

"Didn’t think it was possible to be anymore excited than I already am!" the star began her caption.

She continued: "Years in the making and my brand @disora is finally launching! Thank you to my Disora team for sending me my own PR chest, you b***hes are bad and boujee!"

So far, the Little Mix star has teased a leather blazer and a denim jacket as some of the items that fans will be able to snap up.
