The other day, Elon Musk launched its Grok 4 AI model, and it’s already available on Perplexity for its Pro and Max subscribers. The addition of Grok 4 on Perplexity means its Pro and Max users will be able to use all the top-of-the-line AI models in one place, including OpenAI’s o3 Pro, Claude 4.0 Sonnet Thinking, and more.
During the launch, Musk claimed, “Grok 4 is postgraduate, like PhD level in everything. Better than a PhD. No exceptions.” He also suggested that most PhDs would fail where Grok 4 would pass.
Benchmark tests show that Grok 4 and its premium version, Grok 4 Heavy, have set new records, beating models from OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic. Perplexity users can now leverage these capabilities for research, content creation, and technical problem-solving.
Along with the Grok 4 rollout, Perplexity has entered a partnership with Coinbase to deliver real-time cryptocurrency insights. This collaboration brings Coinbase’s market data directly into Perplexity’s platform, allowing users to track live crypto prices and receive AI-generated explanations for market movements. The goal here is to make crypto analytics more accessible and transparent for both retail and institutional users.
Furthermore, Perplexity has also entered the web browser space with its first AI-backed browser named “Comet”. Unlike traditional web browsers, it’s not meant to only navigate the internet. According to the company, it will understand and think with you. However, as of now, Comet is only available to Perplexity Max subscribers, and that too via an invite-only waitlist.
