Peri Peri bottles recalled by Oxfam amid fears they may blast customers with hot sauce

Bottles of hot sauce sold by Oxfam are being recalled amid fears the contents may shoot out and splash customers as soon as they open it.

A production error on the bottles of  Peri Peri Mombasa Chili Sauce means the lid and their contents may "project with force and cause injury" one the cap is loosened.

The 125ml bottles were sold as part of a Taste of Africa gift set, which has three fair trade bottles of sauce.

Anyone who owns the set has been advised not to open any of the bottled and instead return it for a full refund.

The affected batches of Peri Peri sauce have a best before date of 15 May, 2021.

Food standards Scotland said: "Just Trading Scotland is recalling U-KUVA i-AFRICA A Taste Of Africa triple gift set on a precautionary basis, because Peri Peri Mombasa Chilli Sauce 125ml bottle caps and contents may project with force once the cap is loosened.

"This product is sold in store and online by Oxfam."
