Tory Lanez has been stabbed in prison, TMZ reports. The news has sparked viral posts on X, as fans clown the rapper in support of his shooting victim, rapper Megan Thee Stallion.
“Tory was in the yard of California Correctional Institution at Tehachapi Monday morning when another inmate stabbed him … according to multiple sources, including one in law enforcement,” TMZ states. The stabbing was so bad that Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, had to be transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital in Bakersfield, California. However, the injury is not life-threatening. The assailant’s motives are currently unknown.
Peterson is serving a 10-year sentence for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Jovon Ruth Pete. In the wake of his stabbing, X users have made light of the situation, insinuating that the attack was deserved as penance for his violence against the beloved rap star.
‘I think he’s lying’
Several users joked that the rapper was lying about being stabbed. This is likely in reference to the fact that Tory Lanez’s legal team accused Megan Thee Stallion of lying about the shooting “to get attention.”
“Maybe he’s lying about being stabbed,” user @BoycottKey wrote, accompanied by a popular GIF of singer Zachary Campbell shrugging.
“I heard Tory was running in the prison kitchen and slipped on the knife.. need to hear both sides,” user @RunItUpHotties, whose username references the name of Megan’s fan base, “Hotties,” said.
“Perhaps Tory just stepped on glass,” celebrity blogger KenBarbie (@itsKenBarbie) wrote, accompanied by a GIF of everyone’s favorite furry monster, Elmo, shrugging. This comment references Megan Thee Stallion’s initial claim that she had stepped on glass, downplaying the situation to law enforcement in order to protect those involved.
Other X users celebrated the attack.
“I hope that sh*nk was a lil rusty,” user @Unapologetic_CB wrote, accompanied by a clip of Whitney Houston laughing and dancing in her “One of Those Days” music video.
“I’m crying at the whole Twitter celebrating Tory Lanez getting stabbed lmfaooo,” user @KingTrillaX wrote. “This y’all rn,” they added, followed by a clip of Disney’s Descendants cast dancing to an upbeat rap song.
“Me outside of Tory Lanez hospital room,” user @itsKARY_ said, accompanied by a video of a woman dancing aggressively in front of a glass door while Megan Thee Stallion’s “Body” plays.
‘Tory Lanez shouldn’t even be in jail’
However, some users felt the revelry was inappropriate.
“People celebrating Tory Lanez getting stabbed on here just show you how sick and wicked these people really are,” user @HoodNerdGaming wrote. “Stay far away from these nut jobs. Prayers to Tory Lanez.”
“I never blocked so many losers in my life,” user @MuvaVey wrote. “Celebrating Tory Lanez getting stabbed is degenerate behavior. One of my best friends always say ‘yall don’t want ‘justice’ y’all want suffering’. There should never be a time where you wishing death on someone on behalf of a celebrity.”
Another user said, “Tory Lanez shouldn’t even be in jail so him being stabbed is crazy and I’m praying for a speedy recovery.”
