Having a baby transforms your life in pretty much every way imaginable.
Your days change from socialising with friends to suddenly walking around local green spaces (while most likely being sleep deprived) as you attempt to carve out a timetable to help you cope with the early months.
Essentially you hunt out activities which gets you out of the house and allows you to make a quick exit when necessary to deal with crying/nappy explosion/baby sick.
One of the things many new parents miss out on however, is the theatre.
Most productions would not welcome a baby into the room for fear their crying could disturb the performance or audience's enjoyment.
But Bristol's Old Vic is pioneering a new scheme allowing parents to bring their little ones to their shows.
The institution has just launched a babes-in-arms policy which sees a new 10.30am performances take places aimed at parents with kids under 18 months.
A spokesperson said: "This follows on from Bristol Old Vic’s original work with PIPA (Parents and carers in performing arts), which looked at championing accessibility for those with parental caring responsibilities working in the arts.
"Taking this idea beyond artists onstage, Bristol Old Vic also recognises the difficulties for parents and guardians who wish to watch theatre performance and hopes that the 10.30am offer will make a difference.
Pride and Prejudice* (*sort of) will have a 10.30am performance on Tue 24 Sep. Tickets start at £11.50.
Cyrano will have a 10.30am performance on Tue 5 Nov. Tickets start at £11.50.
