The young Perform in Perth contestants were putting on a fantastic show of practice and talent in the first week of the 2022 competition – real and in person this year after having been online last year.
Seen in this edition are winners for Bible reading, Soutar poems and prepared reading of poems and verse, which saw the performers take the stage in St John the Baptist Episcopal Church, a new venue added this year.
Each year around 2800 performers take part in the two-week festival.
There are events for groups of almost any size and description, in addition to an extensive programme for solo performance.
This, the 98th Perthshire Musical (Competition) Festival, in its centenary year, has seen a number of new venues for the different sections.
St John the Baptist Episcopal Church, Elim Pentecostal Church, Bankfoot Church Centre, North Inch Community Campus, Perth Concert Hall and St Leonard’s-in-the-Fields Church are all coming alive to speech, drama and music of one kind or another.
In order to encourage more school entries, the Scottish Country Dance competitions and the Pipe Band solos took place last Friday. Band and orchestra competitions were held in Perth Concert Hall last night.
