Each capsule is completely airtight to ensure the ground coffee inside remains fresh and preserves its rich aroma until the moment it’s brewed. The packaging was developed exclusively by Nespresso: each sealed aluminium capsule protects the distinguished aromas of freshly ground coffee from air, light and humidity for 12 months.
Then there’s the art of preparing a perfect espresso. The Nespresso system ensures not only the quality of the coffee in its sealed capsule, but also that the water, pressure, temperature and extraction time work together to prepare a perfect espresso topped with a thick, perfectly textured crema.
As well as preserving the aromas, aluminium is also an ecological choice for the Nespresso capsules because it is a metal that can be endlessly recycled. Recycling the metal only requires 5% of the energy needed for its initial extraction.
The distinctive colours also play a role. As well as looking lovely, the capsule shades allow you to identify each blend instantly, so you can make your favourite cup of coffee without delay.
And you can choose from six groups of Grand Cru blends, so there is one to suit everyone’s individual tastes: the Intenso coffees are bursting with powerful personality, richness, body and bitterness; Espresso blends are well-balanced with notes of caramel, citrus and cereal; the Pure Origin family includes spicy coffee from southern India, Colombian coffee with winey notes, sweet and smooth coffee from Brazil and an Ethiopian blend with woody notes; the Lungo blends are intense and aromatic; the Decaffeinato range offers the taste, aroma and body of four favourite blends, without the caffeine; and the Variations family includes delicious blends with bitter chocolate, velvety vanilla and creamy caramel.
