Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer was left impressed by the club's performance as they beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0.
The Magpies travelled down to the capital after a torrid week for Steve Bruce and his players following a 3-1 thrashing from Norwich City.
Questions over commitment, organisation and effort were all asked by critics but Bruce's team turned up and put in a much better performance than many expected - taking all three points.
The only goal of the game via Joelinton in the 27th minute, and United then defended with everything to secure the win.
Taking to social media, Shearer , who had been critical of the link-up play between Joelinton and Miguel Almiron in recent weeks, was left mightily impressed.
"So many impressive performances today Newcastle United - Dummett, Joelinton and Almiron all magnificent.
"Set up worked to perfection."
Bruce spoke after the game, praising the players for their efforts.
"I am delighted for my staff and the players. We have responded in the right way from last week's game. We can talk tactics but they have to go out and perform.
"All-in-all I thought we thoroughly deserved the three points.
"We have had a tough week so we have had to respond in the right way and thankfully the players have."
