Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has flirted with passer rating perfection but never achieved it in a single game.
Until Sunday, that is.
Rodgers completed 25 of 31 passes for 429 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday at Lambeau Field, creating the elusive but perfect passer rating of 158.3.
Rodgers’ previous career-high in passer rating was 155.4, set during a 31-3 win over the Cleveland Browns in 2009. He had four previous games with a passer rating over 150.0 and eight more over 140.0.
The passer rating statistic is calculated using a combination of completion percentage, yards per attempt, touchdown percentage and interception percentage. Rodgers completed 80.6 percent of his passes, averaged 13.8 yards per attempt and produced a touchdown percentage of 16.1 against the Raiders.
Rodgers became just the sixth quarterback in NFL history to produce a perfect 158.3 passer rating while attempting at least 30 passes.
Rodgers’ 13.8 yards per attempt set a new career-high. His previous high in a full game was 12.3.
Rodgers threw for 429 yards, the fourth most in a single game in his career. He also threw five (or more) touchdown passes in a game for the fifth time in his career.
Sunday marked the third time Rodgers has completed over 80 percent of his passes while attempting at least 30 passes.
Rodgers is the fourth quarterback to create a perfect passer rating (minimum 10 attempts) during the 2019 season, joining Lamar Jackson, Dak Prescott and Deshaun Watson.
