It was a perfect weekend for our clubs as all four picked up victories. Linlithgow First and Second XI both continued their march towards promotion in Division One and Five, while for Livingston, their two sides were able to ease their relegation worries in the same divisions.
Linlithgow First XI picked up an emphatic nine-wicket win away to Dunnikier in Kirkcaldy.
Bowling first, the visitors quickly took command with the hosts reduced to 10-4 thanks to excellent bowling from both Gregor Thomson and Duncan Heslop.
The middle order helped steer them away from calamity, while spirited batting from the tailenders saw the hosts reach 171 all out from 43 overs.
Thomson (3-18), Heslop (1-13) and Andy Wallace (2-28) all shone with the ball for Linlithgow.
In reply, the away side put on 62 for the opening partnership between Thomson and Kevin Stump while there was an unsavoury incident when Dunnikier walked off the pitch is dispute at a run-out call that didn’t go in their favour.
When play resumed, Will Nettleton (60*) and Thomson (61*) helped guide the visitors home with a string of powerful shots as they remain in second place.
The club’s Second XI made it a perfect six from six thanks to a four-wicket triumph over Morton Second XI.
Linlithgow won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first, promptly dismissing them for 110.
The pick of the bowlers was Ramesh Duvvuri with three wickets for just 23 runs from his eight overs.
Linlithgow chased down the total for the loss of six wickets with four overs remaining and collected the maximum 20 points. Saj Mohammed top scored with 50 runs in the win.
This weekend, the First XI host RHC before travelling to Dundee the following day for their re-arranged Challenge Cup tie, while the Second XI take on Leith FAB away from home.
Livingston First XI picked up their second win of the season and jumped into sixth place in the Division One table thanks to a tremendous bowling display against Murrayfield DAFs.
Jared Rubly’s 3-23 was the pick as hosts were dismissed for 87, while an unbeaten 47 from Ahmed Ali helped steady the tide after they had fallen to 20-4 in the chase.
Livi eventually knocked off the runs required with five wickets to spare.
While it was a second win for the Firsts, the Seconds picked up their first win of the season as a Shrey Awasthi half-century saw them home to a seven wicket triumph over Drummond Trinity Third XI.
Livi had their visitors struggling at 3-3 before bowling them out for 119 while the batsmen chased down the target inside 30 overs for the loss of just three wickets.
This weekend, Livingston’s First XI welcome Watsonians Second XI while the Second XI are away to Morton Second XI.
