Perfect pairing: why blue and pink has a modern, timeless appeal

Farewell neutrals — the most stylish homes are embracing a softer palette of delicate blush and blue hues. ‘Blue and pink as a pairing feels very modern but also has a timeless appeal,’ says Tricia Guild, creative director and founder of Designers Guild.

‘Think of a dreamy sunset against the blue sea and the emotions that stirs and you realise why this combination just works. It’s calming, sophisticated and ethereal.’

Colour forecasting agency Pantone is also tipping Rose Quartz, a dusty pink, and Serenity, a delicate blue, as the colours that will be most popular this year. The key to pulling it off? Plump for cornflower rather than Yves Klein blue, rose rather than fuchsia, and add hints of green and elements of glass for a modern finish.
