'Perfect' - Neal Ardley hails Notts County's moment of genius in Solihull Moors win

Notts County manager Neal Ardley hailed a moment of magic from winger Enzio Boldewijn as his side surged back into the National League top seven with victory over Solihull Moors.

In a tight first half, the Magpies struggled for chances but sparked into life late on when Boldewijn  skipped past two challenges to tee up Kyle Wootton for the opener.

And the game was made safe three minutes from the end when substitutes Jimmy Knowles and Ruben Rodrigues combined allowing Wootton to score his ninth goal of the season.

Ardley said he sensed the players’ frustrations after they failed to register a shot on target in the first half, but was thrilled to see them force the issue against a well organised Moors.

“They made it really difficult by playing 5-4-1 and the players were getting a little but frustrated before half-time,” he said.

“I said to them at half-time that they just had to be patient, but when they get into the final third we just had to take more risks.

“We needed more one v one domination, more people on the move and not be safe when we get there.

“We wanted to commit to crossing a bit more because I felt we got into those areas, but came back out.

“We needed a bit of magic to break them down and when we had that one v one domination through Enzio, he produced it.

“It was brilliant. To do the driving run, take them into the area and then set-up Kyle was perfect.”
