'Perfect' - Leeds United handed boost ahead of Nottingham Forest clash

Leeds United’s marquee signing Jean-Kevin Augustin looks set to be fit for Saturday’s trip to play Nottingham Forest.

There were major fears among Leeds supporters yesterday that Augustin could be set for a spell on the sidelines after featuring for the under-23s.

The striker was left out of the Leeds squad for Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic, but made his first appearance on Monday against Sheffield Wednesday’s under-23s.

He was replaced at half-time, just minutes after a crunching tackle in the middle of the park. That left him in a heap on the floor, receiving treatment.

The RB Leipzig loanee, who is expected to complete a permanent move to Elland Road for a record-breaking fee in excess of £17m next summer, did get back to his feet, but when he was replaced at half-time, panic set in among Leeds supporters.

Under-23 coach Carlos Corberan, however, eased those fears.

“We use the U23 games to gives chances to first-team players,” he told LUTV.

“We try to help them get to the next level.

“If they need game time these games are perfect for them.

“He (Augustin) is positive. He wanted to continue playing but we didn't want the players playing for more than 45 minutes.”

Forest can move to within one point of Leeds on Saturday if they win at the City Ground, in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
