The family of infamous online celebrity gossip Perez Hilton, real name Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr, has shared a statement following a disturbing TikTok livestream that resulted in him being hospitalised.
Hours after the online personality was hospitalised amid a disturbing livestream — in which he was self-harming — Perez Hilton’s family released a statement on his current condition.
“Many of you have reached out with concern for Perez, and we are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of love, support, and prayers,” the statement, shared on his gossip blog, began.
“We can confirm that Perez is receiving medical care, and our family’s focus right now is on his well-being.
“We kindly ask that you respect Perez’s privacy, as well as the privacy of his family, during this difficult time.”
The family added that they will share updates as they come, and thanked fans once more for their “compassion, understanding and continued support”.
What happened to Perez Hilton?
Per 9News, on Tuesday (US time), emergency services were called to Hilton’s address following a disturbing live-stream on TikTok.
Per a statement obtained by NBC News, which did not name Hilton, a spokesperson for Miami-Dade Sheriff’s confirmed authorities responded to someone “who was livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media”.
In a following statement, the sheriff’s office confirmed the person was “safely recovered”, with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue taking them to hospital.
Dante Rusciolelli, the CEO of Golden Artists Entertainment, which represents Perez Hilton, said, “We do not have any additional confirmed information to share regarding Perez Hilton’s condition”.
“Our focus remains on Perez’s health, recovery, and the privacy of both him and his family during this incredibly difficult time,” Rusciolelli said, per NBC News.
“We are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from fans, friends, and members of the media. We respectfully ask that everyone continue to honour his privacy while he receives the care he needs.”
Hilton rose to prominence during the 2000s for his scathing takes on celebrities and entertainment news, as well as celebrity feuds.
He competed on the Australian version of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2020 and is a single father to three children.
