Australian-born pianist and composer Percy Grainger is best known for his tune Country Gardens. He was committed to exploring new ideas, and pushing the boundaries of popular aesthetics and social norms.
For this exhibition, six Melbourne-based artists respond to items from the Grainger Museum Collection with artistic works that capture his vitality, curiosity and eccentricity. Textile, sculpture, painting, sound, and art installations are exhibited alongside 60 works from the Grainger Museum Collection, and each help to reframe the way we see one of Australia’s most renowned classical artists.
