Per Mertesacker is expected to join Freddie Ljungberg in the Arsenal dugout again for Thursday's match with Brighton as the Swede continues the search for his backroom staff.
Ljungberg was appointed as the Gunners' interim head coach last Friday after Unai Emery was sacked by the club following 18 months at the helm.
For his first game in charge at Norwich, the 42-year-old assembled a backroom staff featuring people he worked with during his time with Arsenal’s Under-23s team, such as fitness coach Sam Wilson.
Academy manager Mertesacker also stepped in to work alongside Ljungberg, but the Swede admitted afterwards he was looking to add to his staff.
“That is something we are working on. When I know and when it’s clear, we’ll let everybody know,” he said.
There are, however, expected to be no new additions to Ljungberg’s staff before Thursday's clash with Brighton.
Mertesacker is expected to be in the dugout once more, while the other members of Ljungberg's setup will be people already employed by Arsenal.
The match against Brighton will be Ljungberg’s first as interim head coach at the Emirates Stadium and he admits it will be a “proud” moment.
“I thought it the other day, when I made my debut for the national team, when I made my debut here, and made my debut at Norwich as a manager, they are three of the proudest moments that I have had,” he said.
