Pepe Reina 'breaks free' from row of eggs as Aston Villa star becomes hit online

It's been over four weeks since the Premier League was halted indefinitely owing to the spread of coronavirus, and it seems the break is finally getting to some footballers.

Many of the top-flights biggest stars have previously gotten involved in the Stay At Home challenge, while others like David Luiz and Jesse Lingard have regularly uploaded clips of their workouts to social media.

Others have found different ways to stay entertained, with Paul Pogba challenging his former Man Utd colleague Zlatan Ibrahimovic to a string of trick shot challenges.

Liverpool's James Milner, meanwhile, has been keeping busy by doing some of his household chores, like trimming the grass with scissors and individually washing each stone in his drive.

For on-loan Aston Villa goalkeeper Pepe Reina, though, they way to stay entertained without football involved a carton of eggs and the classic Queen song 'I Want To Break Free'.

The former Liverpool stopper shared a clip on his Instagram account on Thursday appearing to show four eggs in a carton on a table, with the classic tune playing in the background.

As the song reached a crescendo, it became apparent that all was not as it seemed with the Spain international lifting his bald head to reveal he was among the row of eggs.

It certainly seemed to bring some much needed hilarity to the world, with many of the responses including the laughing emoji.

The video has already spawned some copycat versions, including one from Mirror Football's very own Matt Maltby who, like Reina, sports a bald bonce.

Villa fans will hope Reina is still smiling if and when the Premier League season finishes, with the Villans firmly embroiled in the fight to survive before football in England was halted.

Dean Smith's men sit 19th, but are just two points from safety and crucially have a game in hand over many of their rivals as the foot of the table.
