Pep Guardiola unfazed by dropped points after ‘amazing’ Manchester City performance in Crystal Palace draw

Pep Guardiola praised his Manchester City players’ performance despite being held to a goalless draw at Crystal Palace.

The Premier League title race continued to swing towards Liverpool after the leaders dropped two points on Monday night, having dominated and created several opportunities to break the deadlock.

“Nine games left, many to play. I know we have to win a lot of games but, the way we played...no regrets,” Guardiola told Sky Sports. “We prefer to win of course but the game was well played.

“We played to win the game so we created more, the stats are there. The way we played was amazing in a difficult stadium, with the grass not perfect and we were there all the time, with or without the ball.”

The visitors had 18 shots to seven yet were once again foiled by a Palace team, which beat them at Etihad Stadium earlier this season.

Guardiola opted not to make any substitutions throughout the 90 minutes and insisted he was happy with how City searched for a winner.

“I thought a lot about making changes but they were playing good, the guys had the ability to score a goal,” he noted.

“But in the end we were playing more with emotion, they were defending, but I thought they were playing good.”
