Pep Guardiola trolls Manchester United as he dismisses Theatre of Dreams’ fortress

Pep Guardiola has cranked up the mind games ahead of this week’s Manchester derby.

The Manchester City boss, preparing to face United on Wednesday night, has insisted Old Trafford no longer frightens opposition sides.

Manchester United dominated English football over two decades, winning an unprecedented 13 Premier League titles under Sir Alex Ferguson.

United's home ground was an imposing amphitheatre for many but Guardiola believes the stadium has lost its lustre.

The Spaniard said: "It’s important that the club is structured well, like here.

"But I won’t comment on what happens at United. This club in the last decade grew a lot.

The opposition no longer fear Old Trafford says Pep Guardiola (EMPICS Sport)

"It’s not scary any more to go to Old Trafford but we have to play at our best."

United are nowhere near a title race again this season but can have a huge say on the direction of the trophy this midweek when they face their city rivals.

Victory would see Guardiola's side move one point clear of title rivals Liverpool .

He added: "Four games left and we have to win our four games to retain the title.

"It is not an easy place to go but at the same time, it is a nice place to go. We know exactly what we have to do."
