Manchester City were right to target England captain Harry Kane over Robert Lewandowski this summer.
That's according to talkSPORT pundit and former Aston Villa striker, Gabby Agbonlahor, who insists the Tottenham man narrowly has the edge over his fellow goal-getter.
Kane and Lewandowski will go head-to-head tonight (7.45pm) when the Three Lions visit Poland for their third and final outing of this international break.
It's a World Cup qualifier which follows consecutive 4-0 victories for England against Hungary and Andorra.
In the midst of THE summer transfer saga, City missed out on priority target Kane as his current club dug their heels in over their £150million-plus valuation for a player who has won three Premier League golden boot awards and has netted 40 times for his country.
Lewandowski, 33, did emerge as a possible alternative target on the back of comments he made about wanting to embrace a new challenge after life at Bayern Munich, but City remained intent on signing Kane until he pledged his future to Tottenham at the end of the window.
Kane has scored 166 goals in 247 top-flight appearances, while the Poland frontman - who worked under Guardiola at the Allianz Arena - has netted 282 times in the Bundesliga over 353 games for Bayern and Borussia Dortmund.
But there is only one winner in that head-to-head battle - just!

Agbonlahor said: "I think you've got to respect both footballers. This one's a tough one, because Lewandowski the goals he's scored for Bayern Munich, he's probably Poland's best ever player.
"It's a tough one, but I've got to back Kane. You have got to back your own, haven't you?
"We have got to back our England captain. It's just the way Kane plays. Look at last season, the amount of goals he scored and the assists, I've got to pip Lewandowski with Kane by a little bit."
