Pep Guardiola thinks he knows how to get Man City back in top form

Pep Guardiola is confident his Manchester City can fire themselves back into the Premier League title race.

The Blues trail Liverpool by eight points after eight games following unexpected defeats against Norwich and Wolves, putting the defending champions under more scrutiny than they would like to be at this point of the campaign.

A tough trip to Crystal Palace is next up on Saturday evening . If they should be boosted by the likely return of Kevin De Bruyne and John Stones, Roy Hodgson is one of the few managers in the Premier League that has claimed a win against Guardiola's side.

City's coach admitted that his team had had an off-day against Wolves before the international break, and after reflection believes that there are areas they can improve in.

However, he is confident that the players will be able to return to their usual high standards to ensure normal practice resumes and the team starts winning matches again.

“Every season is completely different and every situation is different," he said when asked about the challenge of not leading the rest of the league.

"I’m not going to change my opinion on my team. I know exactly what we need to do to come back and be a team like we want to be but that is the past. Now we have to be focussed on improving our game and winning games.”
