Pep Guardiola shares huge injury boost ahead of Man City's clash against Arsenal

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has stated that he expects Ilkay Gundogan to be fit to face Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday.

City extended their winning streak in all competitions to 17 after beating Everton 3-1, moving 10-points clear at the top of the table in the process.

One major absentee from the City game caught the headlines though, as Gundogan did not feature in the midweek game.

That has raised questions as to whether the Germany international would be fit for the upcoming clash against Arsenal and next week's Champions League tie against Borussia Monchengladbach.

Cedric happy to fill in where needed for Arsenal

Gundogan's absence would be a significant blow to the Premier League title favourites, as the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder has netted 11 goals in 18 matches this term - all of which have come in his last 11 appearances.

However, Guardiola has revealed that he expects the 30-year-old to be available for the clash against Arsenal as well as next week's European tie.

"He [Gundogan] is much, much better. It is not a big issue, but to avoid risk today, we have given him a few more days to recover," he told City's official website.

"But for Arsenal and Borussia Monchengladbach he should be ready. Of course Gundo is exceptional. We spoke about that. If you want to win titles and finals we need the whole squad."

Guardiola's comments come after another boost regarding Kevin De Bruyne, who made his long-awaited return from injury in Wednesday's win against Everton.
