Pep Guardiola sends 'nervous' message to Man City players ahead of Chelsea showdown

Pep Guardiola has told his Manchester City players they 'have to handle' the pressure of a Champions League final.

Manchester City face Chelsea tomorrow night as they look to secure their first Champions League title, while the Blues are seeking their second having reached the final for the first time since their victory in 2012.

Both teams are already in Porto and putting the final touches on their preparations ahead of the final, which was originally set to be played in Istanbul.

But the pressure is just as high regardless of the final venue, and Guardiola has warned his players - some of which he believes will feel the tension more than others - they have to 'handle' the pressure of the biggest game in European club football.

"Everyone wants to win but to win you have to play. You want to play one way but sometimes you have to adapt to difficult circumstances," he said in his pre-match press conference.

"Some players go out there with tension, some struggle, but they have to handle this. I'm pretty sure we have to suffer to win the final.

"It's nice to say enjoy it but sometimes it's not possible. You have to be resilient and adjust. We will try to be ourselves and do what we can."

Guardiola also spoke about the 'privilege' of reaching the final and how he has already decided upon his starting XI.

"I know how we are going to play and who we are going to play," he added. "It is an incredible privilege to be here. I never expected when I started my career to play a Champions League final.

"I know exactly what I am going to tell them. The guys who are going to be anxious or nervous, it can happen. It's not bad."
