Pep Guardiola sends Liverpool reminder to Man City after Arsenal lead clawed back

Pep Guardiola has used Liverpool's win in the 2005 Champions League final to remind his Manchester City players not to take anything for granted.

City returned to winning ways on Saturday evening with a 4-1 victory at Bournemouth to move to within two points of Premier League leaders Arsenal.

Despite Arsenal's lead - plus game in hand, which comes at home to Everton on Wednesday - the title remains in the balance. The Gunners have to visit the Etihad Stadium in April while City have invaluable experience in a race this tense.

Former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss Guardiola knows experience in these situations is key. But he is also well aware shocks happen in football. That was certainly true back in 2005 when a Steven Gerrard-inspired Liverpool came from 3-0 down to beat AC Milan on penalties in Istanbul.

"I would like to say, yes (it can help us), but I don't know. Every season is completely different," said the City manager, who has won 10 domestic titles as a boss. "Always I put an example to my players about this kind of thing. Experience with the Champions League final with Milan and Liverpool."

Luis Diaz linked with Liverpool exit in 'sensational exchange' for AC Milan star

AC Milan forward Rafael Leao has been linked with a move to Liverpool - in a deal which would see Luis Diaz head in the opposite direction.

Italian outlet Calciomercato claim Leao is 'ever closer' to leaving the Italian giants, with his current contract set to expire next summer. With contract talks proving 'negative', the article states Milan could 'listen to offers' in a bid avoid losing the Portugual international for free in 2024.

Liverpool are one of the sides suggested as a possible destination for the 23-year-old, with the report adding Diaz could be used as the Reds try to 'snatch Leao'. Milan would, however, prefer a 'cash-only proposal' and are said to value the player between €120million and €150m.

The former Lille attacker is said to be a player Jurgen Klopp 'likes', paving the way for a potentially 'sensational exchange' between AC Milan and the Reds.
