Pep Guardiola's warning to Newcastle after Manchester City's Premier League setback

Pep Guardiola says that Manchester City must shrug off their disappointment of handing the Premier League title to Liverpool and ensure they beat Newcastle United in the FA Cup quarter-final.

City will go into the game without Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho, who picked up a ban after his red card against Chelsea last night, while exciting youngster Phil Foden is also a doubt.

Guardiola said: "What's important is Sunday now at Newcastle.

"To get to the semi-finals of the FA Cup is important.

"We have to win other games to secure Champions League qualification.

"We have to recover people for this incredible effort.

"We have to prepare for Sunday now."

When asked whether the red card would help his cause, Guardiola said: "Definitely not.

"We have to see how many games he will miss now."

Newcastle face the holders on Tyneside at 6.30pm and are bidding to reach their first semi-final since 2005.
