Pep Guardiola's four-word response when asked about Man City transfer target Rodri

Pep Guardiola has commented on transfer speculation linking Man City to Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodri.

The Blues boss is in Barcelona to attend an event for the Johan Cruyff Foundation and was asked about City's transfer plans by the Spanish press.

City are believed to be favourites to sign the defensive midfielder this summer, with a £62.5m transfer fee being able to trigger his release clause.

Rodri is reportedly seen as competition, cover and the eventual successor of Fernandinho, who is now 34 and picked up several injuries throughout last season.

Defensive midfield, alongside a new centre-back to replace Vincent Kompany, are believed to be City's main concerns in the transfer window this summer.

However, when asked about Rodri, Guardiola was quoted by Mundo Deportivo as saying: "No idea, we'll see."

The Catalonian also claimed that he has not called the player.

Bizarrely, Guardiola was also asked if City had any interest in Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio, to which he emphatically replied: "No chance."

While back in his home City, Guardiola was also asked about the possibility of returning to Barcelona as president.

“I will go back to Barcelona, but to Barca as president? Forget it," he was quoted as saying by Sport.

"You have to be prepared and have knowledge and it is not my case, I try to be a good coach, I’ve not done badly, but president is something else.”
