Pep Guardiola's comments on Harry Kane as striker confirms plans to leave Tottenham

Pep Guardiola has refused to talk about a potential move for Harry Kane as the striker eyes an exit from Spurs.

The 27-year-old has reiterated his desire to leave the Londoners and end his 16-year tenure with his boyhood club as his future hangs in the balance.

Manchester City and Manchester United have both emerged as strong candidates to sign Kane if he does leave Tottenham.

City are the bookie's favourite to secure his signature, but boss Guardiola wasn't in the mood for entertaining that notion when he was asked if the club were interested in pursuing the forward.

He said: "Next question. He is a Tottenham Hotspur player, please."

Kane confirmed his plans to leave Spurs in an eye-opening interview with Gary Neville on his new YouTube channel The Overlap.

The England international wants to have an honest conversation with chairman Daniel Levy and hopes the Tottenham chief will respect his wishes given how much he's given to the club over the years.

Kane also reckons they have a great relationship, but ultimately he doesn't know how the pair's sit-down will play out.

He said: "He’s been great with me if I’m totally honest.

“I mean, he’s always rewarded me with contracts. Like obviously I signed maybe a four or five-year deal when I was 21 but I’ve done well so he’s added to that. He’s been great with me.

“He’s been fair with me. He’s never kind of just held me on to a contract and said ‘No, I’ve paid you that. You’re going to stay on that.’

“So, we’ve always had a good relationship.

“I’m not sure how that conversation will go if I’m honest, but you know what it’s like as players you don’t know what the chairman is thinking.

“I don’t know, I mean he might want to sell me. He might be thinking ‘if I could get 100 million for you, then why not?’

“Do you know what I mean? I’m not going to be worth that for the next two or three years.

“I hope we have a good enough relationship. I’ve given the club… well, I’ve been there 16, 16 years of my life.

“So, I hope that we can have a good honest conversation and see where we are in that aspect.”
