Pep Guardiola couldn't resist teasing Rio Ferdinand over his former Barcelona side's two Champions League final wins against Manchester United.
Barca were first victorious against the Red Devils in Rome in 2009, with Samuel Eto'o and Lionel Messi goals giving them a 2-0 victory.
And two years later at Wembley they did it again, beating Sir Alex Ferguson's side 3-1 in a display widely regarded as the best ever in a European final.
Ferdinand played in both games, and has regularly spoken about his admiration for that Barcelona team.
And in an interview with Guardiola for BT Sport ahead of this weekend's Manchester derby, Ferdinand ended the chat by reminiscing about the two games.
"I can't finish the interview without just touching on Rome and Wembley," Ferdinand said. "Do you realise what you did to us those days has scarred us for life?"
Guardiola replied by making reference to Messi's goal in Rome in which the Argentinean snuck in behind Ferdinand at the back post to score a rare header, saying: "I said to Messi, 'attack the far post, with Rio'", before the two burst out laughing.
But Guardiola then quickly added: "No, we were lucky. In the first ten or 15 minutes it could have been 2-0 to you. Cristiano Ronaldo had a free-kick and Gerard Pique cleared one off the line.
"It was an honour to play against United in those finals. Because we won of course they are good memories for us."
Ferdinand then added: "That's a good way for you to finish. I want to leave you on a confident note!"
City would extend their lead over United at the top of the Premier League to 17 points with victory at the Etihad on Sunday, with the title race seemingly all but over.
