Pep Guardiola has claimed he will have champagne in the fridge ready to celebrate if Liverpool beat Manchester United tomorrow.
The Reds travel to Old Trafford to face Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team and a win would surrender their own Premier League title to their opponent's city rivals.
City ran out 2-0 winners against Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon, putting them three points away from securing the league, with United the closest side to them in the table.
It means one more win in their final four fixtures will confirm it or if Man United fail to avoid defeat against Jurgen Klopp's side.
Guardiola's team did the Reds the same favour last campaign when they beat Chelsea to end the 30-year wait for a league win at Anfield. Now they could return the favour and the City boss is preparing for the event.
Speaking to BT Sport, he said: "We can start to think about it (winning the title). We can start to put the champagne in the fridge.”
Asked if he'll be watching the events unfold at Old Trafford, Guardiola replied: "I’ll take a look.”
Striker Sergio Aguero was also looking forward to watching the current champions potentially handing over their crown.
He said: "We wait for tomorrow. Every game is difficult, but we wait for tomorrow. Of course if Liverpool win it’s better."
If Liverpool do beat United tomorrow, they will at least keep one record they set last season, after they became the fastest Premier League side to secure the title after doing so still with seven games remaining.
