Pep Guardiola responds to Raheem Sterling's admission that he'd "love" to leave Man City

Pep Guardiola has admitted he was surprised by Raheem Sterling's claim he could leave Manchester City over a lack of playing time.

Sterling suggested he could move abroad if he does not get the regular playing time he wants at City under Guardiola.

England forward Sterling has started just two of City's seven Premier League games this season, his admission he could leave for more playing time having put the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid on alert.

Guardiola responded to Sterling's comments by saying: “I didn't know it, I didn't think the club knew.

"Raheem is our player, hopefully he will be an incredibly important player for us. I don't know if he wants to play more.

Will Raheem Sterling leave Man City in January? Comment below

“Riyad Mahrez doesn't play and he doesn't complain, Joao Cancelo too. I cannot assure them, I cannot assure how many minutes each one plays. Always they have to speak on the pitch.

"Not Raheem, all of them. They know they are going to play minutes, all of them are involved.

"What I want from Raheem and everyone is they have to be satisfied to be here and delighted to be here. If that's not the case he has to make the best decision for his family.”

Guardiola also confirmed Ferran Torres will be out for two-and-a-half to three months with a broken metatarsal sustained on international duty with Spain.
