Pep Guardiola responds to Man City transfer talk including Robert Lewandowski link

Pep Guardiola dismissed any interest in Robert Lewandowski as Manchester City continue to hunt for a striker in the transfer market.

As M.E.N Sport has previously reported, Lewandowski is among a group of elite strikers including Cristiano Ronaldo and Antoine Griezmann who the Blues have opted not to pursue this summer as they focus their efforts on signing Harry Kane.

With less than two weeks remaining in the transfer window, there are still considerable hurdles to be navigated if they are to land the Tottenham striker given the need to find a financial package that fits within their budget while tempting Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

Lewandowski's name was thrown back into the mix this week with reports that he is open to leaving Bayern Munich for a new challenge, yet Guardiola believes that the player will stay with the German champions.

The City boss is looking forward to having a fully fit squad after the international break, and insists that he will be happy with the group he has even if the club fail to land the No.9 they have prioritised this summer.

"Lewy is so important for Bayern Munich and he will stay at Bayern Munich," he said.

"I am not going to talk to you and your colleagues about the 11 days left in the transfer market. I don’t know what is going to happen, nobody knows. Tomorrow we have a game, then prepare the Arsenal game and finish. When we come back from the international break, we will have all the squad to fight for every game."

Asked if he would be happy with the squad without any more additions, he replied: "Absolutely - more than happy. It is the same team, except Jack Grealish for Sergio."
