Pep Guardiola reacts to prospect of Liverpool FC's possible eight-point gap after Man City draw at Leeds

Manchester City could be eight points behind Premier League leaders Everton and reigning champions Liverpool by tomorrow night.

But Blues boss Pep Guardiola said he is not thinking about the gap at such an early stage of the season – and said he was “more than satisfied” after a 1-1 draw at Leeds.

“We have one less game,” he said, referring to the fact City started the season a week after the rest of the league, apart from Manchester United.

“I know we have to win games to be on top but I am not going to start after three games to think if we are going to win the league. It is what it is.

“I know the situation, where we are, how we finished last season, the players we have. I am more than satisfied with what we have done so far.”

The draw means City have dropped five points out of the first nine, following last week’s 5-2 home shellacking by Leicester.

And this was the first time since December 2018 that City have failed to win in two consecutive games.

“You know how tough is the league, how opponents don’t drop much- today was completely different to Leicester,” he said.

“We lost control of that game but today we were there all the game. I am so proud of these players.”
