Pep Guardiola reacts to possible Man City Champions League ban

Pep Guardiola reacted to a possible Manchester City ban from the Champions League.

The City boss has been linked to Italian champions Juventus, and the possibility of the Blues running into a ban from the Champions League will undoubtedly cause that to intensify.

City have been referred to the club financial control body's adjudicatory committee over alleged breaches of the financial fair play (FFP) rules, and a leak to the New York Times earlier this week suggested that the investigators are pushing for the Blues to be banned from the Champions League.

City have made it plain they will fight any punishment, hinting that they will take the battle to the independent Court of Arbitration for Sport.

That alone could make it difficult for Uefa to ban them for next season, but some fans fear that a spell without European football may hasten the departure of the club's most successful manager, who has won two league titles, and two League Cups and will add an FA Cup to the haul if they beat Watford in tomorrow's final at Wembley.

Guardiola said: “I trust the club and the people, I know we won the Premier League and for the last three or four days people talk about that.

"If UEFA decided we did something wrong they will punish it, but we are innocent until proven guilty. For human being it’s difficult to understand, but that’s what it is.

"I spoke with the chairman and the CEO, I know exactly what happened and what we did and I trust them.

“UEFA are working with the lawyers from Man City, we’re happy to expose all the papers and the documents. I don’t know what happens behind the scenes. We’re innocent today.”

Speaking directly on his future, following the news Max Allegri will be leaving Juventus at the end of the season, Guardiola said: “I’m not going to Juventus or to Italy, I have two more years here, I’m not going to move, I’m satisfied here, I’m not going anywhere. Next season I will be manager of Man City.”
