Pep Guardiola reacts furiously to Financial Fair Play question after Man City treble triumph

Pep Guardiola was furious that Man City's historic treble was marred by more questions of alleged Financial Fair Play (FFP) breaches.

After discussing the 6-0 win over Watford at Wembley, a success that saw City become the first club to complete a clean sweep of domestic trophies, Guardiola's press conference ended with a question about the latest development in City's FFP case.

This week City were referred to UEFA's club financial control body adjudicatory chamber over claimed breaches of the financial rules. One alleged issue is payments made to former boss Roberto Mancini via the club owned by Sheikh Mansour in Abu Dhabi.

Guardiola was asked whether he had ever received such payments in his post-match press conference, and the Catalan reacted angrily to the suggestion.

"Do you know the question you’re asking me?," he shot back.

"Did I receive money for another situation, right now, today? Honestly, do you think I deserve to have this type of question, the day we won the treble, did I receive money? Are you accusing me of receiving money?"

Before that Guardiola was asked if the latest reports on FFP had taken the shine off City's treble.

Again he insisted the club were not guilty of falling foul of the roles and he placed his complete trust in the Etihad hierachy.

"I said yesterday, we are not guilty until it’s proven," he said.

"This club makes a big step forward with the investment. Can you do that without top players? No way. Money helps to buy the incredible players we have, yes.

"But we wait, if we’re punished we accept it. But I listen to my chairman and my CEO, they give me the arguments for why we are under investigation and I trust them.

"They tell me we fair and we absolutely follow the rules, I believe them. If the opponents and contenders think it’s just about the money, it is ok."
