Pep Guardiola provides Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling injury update ahead of Man City vs Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester City have received a major injury boost with Sergio Aguero , Raheem Sterling and Fernandinho all apparently fit to face Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow night.

Sterling and Aguero are reported to have missed training yesterday after picking up a knock in the 3-1 win at Crystal Palace, after Aguero was substituted at Selhurst Park after a below-par performance.

And Fernandinho missed the trip to south London with a “short-term injury” - but trained yesterday and is expected to be available for the Champions League quarter-final second leg.

The only doubt is Aleks Zinchenko, who was due to miss training today as he recovers from a hamstring problem.

Guardiola admitted that Aguero is still short of match fitness but hinted that he will start the game.

Asked about injuries, Guardiola replied: “I think everyone – Zinchenko, I don’t think he’ll train today. The others trained quite well.

John Stones explains the motivation fuelling Man City's Quadruple dream

“This afternoon….both Aguero and Sterling. Fernandinho trained yesterday, without the normal intensity but he trained yesterday.”

Aguero looked below par at Palace and is said to have been missing from training yesterday – but Guardiola said there is no problem.

“He’s fit, he needs games to get his best condition,” he said.

“Other players, like Bernardo and the other strikers, they are fit and firing.

“Tomorrow is not a lot about physical condition, do they want to get through. This is the moment.

“The desire to get through, the illusion, what is the pressure. If we lose, then we have failed and next year we’ll be there again in the Champions League.”
