Pep Guardiola pinpoints where Man City need to improve after falling further behind Liverpool FC

Pep Guardiola has called on his attackers to be more clinical after Manchester City fell 11 points behind Liverpool in the title race following the draw against Newcastle on Saturday.

City managed 24 shots against Steve Bruce's side but only scored twice and dropped points in the league for the fifth time this season.

Sergio Aguero is still sidelined with a thigh injury, and has been ruled out of the Manchester derby this weekend, while the last time Gabriel Jesus scored a goal was October 19.

And the City manager has called on his team to be more clinical ahead of their trip to Turf Moor on Tuesday night.

"We had 24 shots, not all on target, at Newcastle. We had three or four one on ones with the keeper. They shot twice and scored. Always we try to prepare to create more and concede less," Guardiola said ahead of the clash against Burnley.

Many are starting to rule City out of the title race with Jurgen Klopp's side only dropping two points so far this season and Guardiola has praised his players for still having the belief they can land their third consecutive title.

"That is good that they believe it (that they can still win the league). They have to believe we win tomorrow. That is the fact," Guardiola said. "We have to think about what we have to do to win the games and play quite similar to recent games, like Newcastle and except 20-25 minutes against Chelsea.

"We have to be more solid and score the chances we have."
