Pep Guardiola on Man City future in relation to Champions League and what it means for Liverpool

Manchester City have been banned from the Champions League for two seasons by UEFA and this decision could have a huge impact on the future of Pep Guardiola.

What it means for Liverpool could be massive as well, with the Reds' viewing City as their nearest rivals even despite a 22-point gap between the two sides heading into the weekend's fixtures.

City had won the league title in consecutive seasons under Guardiola but now his future has been called into question amid the ban decision from UEFA.

Whilst City are set to appeal the decision through the Court of Arbitration for Sport, Guardiola's recent comments on his future in relation to the Champions League make for interesting reading.

Should the ban be upheld, Guardiola may be on his way at the end of the season if these comments are anything to go by in what would be a huge boost to Liverpool.

Ahead of his side's round of 16 clash in the Champions League against Real Madrid, Guardiola providing some ominous words.

"I accept it. I want to win the Champions League, I dream and will enjoy the games against Real Madrid, to see what I can do," Guardiola told Sky Sports.

"And this process, the two weeks before, will be the happiest moments of my profession, to imagine what we can do to beat them.

"If we don't beat them, then the chairman will come, or the sporting director, and say 'It's not good enough, we want the Champions League, I'm going to sack you.'"

Pep Guardiola is 1/5 to leave Manchester City in the summer following UEFA's decision to ban them from the next two Champions League competitions, according to SportNation.
