Pep Guardiola is more interested in how his Manchester City team look on a football pitch than in a league table.
The Blues climbed to the top of the Premier League with a 3-1 win after Watford after previous leaders Chelsea slumped to a 3-2 defeat at West Ham; a late win for Liverpool at Wolves sees them one point behind City and one ahead of Liverpool.
City did not let any team catch them once they hit the front last season and their current run of five consecutive victories in the league - they have six in all competitions - sees them in the sort of form that should worry their rivals. Guardiola is all too aware of how quickly things can change though, and is conscious that the toughest part of the season is yet to come as they head into winter.
"Today one team dropped points, next week it can be us or Liverpool," he said.
"Many things can happen. It doesn't matter to be top of the league now, now comes the toughest part of the season with many games and we are trying to continue in this level and rhythm.
"We are playing at a good level, we are winning games but in football everything can go down in one second so I am more than pleased with what the guys have done in this tough period and now comes the toughest ones - for the amount of games, for the many things. Keep going with this rhythm and try to continue to play good."
