Pep Guardiola makes Premier League table admission after Man City cut Liverpool's lead

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola believes it is too early to be paying attention to the Premier League table - despite his side cutting Liverpool’s lead at the top to three points.

Despite a goalless first half at the Etihad, City closed the gap on Jurgen Klopp’s side by claiming a 3-0 over Aston Villa thanks to goals from Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne and İlkay Gündoğan.

The Reds, however, do have the chance to move six points clear again with a win over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

"Six days ago we were eight points [behind], now we are three,” Guardiola said after his side’s win.

“That is a good experience for us but they have to play tomorrow against Tottenham.

"I am not concerned about the table. I am concerned about the way we played.

“If we play the level we played in the second half we will be there at the end of the season.

"If we play the way we did in the first half, we will be relegated."

The Premier League's current top two meet at Anfield on 10th November in what looks set to be a crucial showdown in the first half of the season.
