Pep Guardiola may have been speaking with tongue somewhat in cheek regarding Liverpool.
But there was a serious message aimed at Jurgen Klopp and his players among the Manchester City manager's post-match comments following the 1-0 win at Leicester City on Saturday evening.
Having started the week 25 points behind runaway Premier League leaders Liverpool, the champions have cut the gap by six points with successive victories.
The Reds can stretch their advantage once more when they entertain West Ham United on Monday night.
Liverpool need to win only five of their remaining 12 league games to ensure a first championship since 1990.
City, though, are determined not to make life easy for Klopp's side with Guardiola adamant the performance in winning at the King Power Stadium demonstrated a more steely resolve among his team after a difficult few weeks.
"After the first five or 10 minutes when we suffered a little bit and lost control, but the rest of the game, especially in the second half after we missed the penalty, the way we played, we didn't give up and that's an incredibly good sign for us," said the City boss.
"We won. We are seven points clear of third, and 19 points from Liverpool right now so maybe we have a chance to beat them!
"But it's okay, satisfied with the performance."
City could be 28 points adrift by the time they next play a Premier League game at neighbours United on March 8, with Liverpool playing three top-flight games before then.
