'Nobody can deny' - Pep Guardiola makes Liverpool admission after Man City derby win

Pep Guardiola admitted that he views Liverpool as Manchester City’s toughest opponent, following his side’s win in the Manchester derby.

City cruised to a 2-0 victory over rivals Manchester United, after Bernardo Silva added to Eric Bailly’s own goal before half-time.

Though not as comprehensive a scoreline as when Jurgen Klopp ’s Reds beat 5-0 Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side at Old Trafford, City’s success was equally authoritative.

Asked about the differences in the two displays, Guardiola showed his admiration for Liverpool , despite both clubs competing for titles.

“I know my admiration for Liverpool and the work of Jurgen. It's the toughest opponent. Still they're there after six or seven years.”

Xavi has made feelings on Liverpool and Sadio Mane clear ahead of Barcelona return

Former Spain midfielder Xavi has returned to Barcelona as manager after reaching an agreement with his boyhood club.

The 41-year-old replaces Ronald Koeman, having left Qatari side Al Sadd, and has already spoken about his feelings towards Liverpool and one of the Reds’ current players.

Sadio Mane was tentatively linked with a move to Barcelona in the past, following his impressive form for Liverpool, but the new Barca boss claimed the winger would not be a good signing for the club.

However, Xavi has been vocal in his praise for the way Jurgen Klopp sets up his side.

"They're a very difficult team to attack. Physically they're very strong. They win all the second balls and they also work really hard on their tactics,” Xaxi said in 2019.

“They're dominant in so many areas of the game.”
