Pep Guardiola makes Liverpool admission as Jurgen Klopp's side on course to eclipse Man City record

Man City boss Pep Guardiola has admitted Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool team could beat his side's points record.

The Reds need to win nine more games to be crowned Premier League champions, and are also on course to eclipse City's points total from their record-breaking 2017/18 season.

Guardiola's side became the first side to reach 100 points in England's top flight.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of City's meeting with Fulham in the fourth-round of the FA Cup, the Spaniard was asked whether this Liverpool team are capable of breaking the record.

He said: "Yeah it can happen. Records are there to be broken.

"We broke it when someone said we couldn’t and sooner or later it will be broken again.

"History speaks clearly about that. It is not easy to beat Liverpool, they have found a way to win games."

Liverpool, who face Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup on Sunday, currently sit 16 points clear of the reigning champions.
