Just one point separates the teams with three games remaining as City sit in first on 89 points while Liverpool are slightly behind on 88 while the gap to third is 18 points.

"Liverpool and ourselves deserve the title as one," Guardiola said.

"The team that is going to lose can't have regrets because they have given everything.

"Normally with this kind of derby victory you can it enjoy it the most but we have to be calm.

Jurgen Klopp's fears proved right but Liverpool and Manchester City's title race is far from over

"We have to prepare well for all three games left.

"It's important to be calm. We are still not champions with three games left - it's incredible with the points we and Liverpool have.

"I told the players don't read tomorrow, don't watch the television, just rest and sleep a lot and go in there against Burnley."

City face Burnley, Leicester City under former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers and then Brighton for the last game of the season as a side potentially fighting for their survival.

Liverpool meanwhile face Huddersfield on Friday knowing that a win at Anfield would see them return to the top of the Premier League, clear by two points with the pressure firmly back on City when they face the Clarets.

The Reds final two games are away to Newcastle and home to Wolves.
