Pep Guardiola makes Brian Kidd gesture after Man City win the Carabao Cup

Pep Guardiola brought Brian Kidd into his press conference after Manchester City beat Tottenham to win the Carabao Cup.

The Manchester City manager enjoyed joyous celebrations with his coaching staff and players on the pitch in front of their own fans for the first time in over a year, then brought his veteran assistant in to take questions from the media.

Asked for his reaction to the game, the City boss began by inviting questions for Kidd.

"First I want to share this press conference with Brian. A legend of this country, many years at United and now City. I love him.

"I'm so delighted and I have thoughts for the guys who didn't play," the manager continued. "The first thought is for them and unfortunately they could not play.

"It was a good night for us to share it with our people and all the people at home."

Kidd then took some questions, and paid tribute to the attention paid by Guardiola to every opponent that has seen the Blues continue their incredible record of not losing a Carabao Cup game since October 2016 as they won the competition for a fourth consecutive year.

“The respect he gives it, everyone is focussed every day of the week," said Kidd.

"He doesn’t treat it lightly. No matter who are we playing, the weakest team in the four leagues, he treats everyone with the same respect – same with the players and the staff.”
