Pep Guardiola in public disagreement with Oleksandr Zinchenko over Man City claim

Pep Guardiola has disagreed with Oleksandr Zinchenko's claim that Manchester City can win the quadruple insisting it is a "utopia"

The run away Premier League leaders are poised to secure a third triumph in four years and have the Carabao Cup final next month.

City also remain in contention for the FA Cup which could complete a second domestic treble in three years.

But Zinchenko wants them to go one better and finally land the Champions League which would mean City sweeping all before them.

"We have an unbelievable squad, the best players in the world and definitely, why not?" he said.

"Inside the dressing room I can see the hungry eyes. Everyone is so hungry for the titles and that is what you want."

Guardiola though was quick to pour water on his player's hopes.

He once won six titles in a calendar year while in charge of Barcelona, but no English side has ever won all four major trophies in a season.

The Catalan remains focused on the coming games and wants his players to do likewise.

"I am older than Mr Zinchenko, I have more experience and I don’t agree with him," Guardiola said.

"The only thing he has to be worried about is trying to do a good game tomorrow and try to go through. This is the only way.

"Four titles is a utopia. It never happened before (in England) and I think it’s never going to happen. We just think about this one, then the next one at Goodison Park, then the international break.

"If you ask me if I agree with Zinchenko I’d say no, completely not. It’s out of reality and focus."

City face Borussia Monchengladbach tonight in the last 16 of the Champions League before an FA Cup quarter final at Everton.
