Pep Guardiola has already delivered verdict on Arsenal's potential David Luiz replacement

Arsenal are making plans to replace David Luiz in the summer transfer window.

After two years in north London - following a somewhat surprise transfer from Chelsea - the Brazilian defender is set to leave the Gunners at the end of the season when his contract officially expires on June 30.

And according to The Athletic, Tosin Adarabioyo has been identified as a potential replacement for Luiz.

Despite Fulham's relegation, Adarabioyo has impressed during his 31 Premier League appearances as he's been part of a relatively solid defence that has conceded just eight more goals than Manchester United.

The 23-year-old only arrived at Craven Cottage from Manchester City last October and links to the Gunners show just how far he has developed in less than a year.

If Arsenal were to sign Adarabioyo, manager Mikel Arteta would be reunited with a player that Pep Guardiola has previously tipped to have a bright future.

"Definitely, yes," Guardiola said in the summer of 2016 when asked if Adarabioyo was capable of playing regularly in his side during the 2016/17 season. "I don't know what is going to happen because Vincent Kompany will come back.

"Until 31 of August, a lot of things can happen - but if you ask me today my opinion, he will be our player.

"He's a nice guy. His mind is open. He listens. He trains everyday like it's the last training of his life.

"And I like a lot to work with these kinds of players. He has his whole career in front of him. Against two tough teams like Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, he played really well."

Guardiola also outlined Adarabioyo's best attributes which would make him the perfect replacement for Luiz.

"We have to tell Tosin he has a lot of steps to get better, so it's not done, the player isn't done," the Spaniard added. "But he has all the quality.

"He is fast, he is faster than the people can believe it.

"He's strong in the air.

"He has the quality to look behind the line for the next step, the next pass, but he has a lot of things to improve and I hope I can help him to develop his skills."
