Pep Guardiola hands Liverpool major worry as Chelsea title truth emerges

It's the end of another Premier League weekend, and another three points for Manchester City.

City's form of late really isn't good news for Liverpool, but you can’t rely on other teams. It’s all about what Liverpool can do.

City seem to have raised the bar somewhat by winning all these games on the bounce, which they’ve done before. The worry is, at the moment, they just don’t look like they’re going to slip up.

It seems to me that sides are almost beaten before the match has even begun against City and I think it is the same at Anfield when some of the teams lower down in the division visit.

It’s really tough to go to Anfield and get anything.

It is a little bit ominous playing against Guardiola's side and, psychologically, it’s hard to think you will get anything.

Man City create so many chances and are capable of scoring five, six, seven goals a game. This is all without a recognised striker, too.

It shows you what a coach Pep Guardiola is. Both Guardiola and Jurgen have raised the bar so high. We just have to keep on inching away and hope for a helping hand from elsewhere in the coming months.

We are capable of beating anyone and we just have to remain consistent. A point at Tottenham would be considered a fairly good result in most other seasons, but the demands are just so much higher.

The title is not really in our hands because City are now ahead on points and goal difference. They are just like a machine at the moment.

It’s virtually impossible for us to go from now and the end of the season winning every game. We will need teams to beat City along the way.

If we were to beat Chelsea at the weekend, it’s going to be very difficult for Tuchel's side to get back into the mix given the way Man City are going. A draw is no good for anyone really.

It’s only the start of the New Year and it’s crazy to say that, but that just shows you how City have raised the standards.

Boxing Day postponement could work in Liverpool's favour

It was disappointing to see the game with Leeds called off on Boxing day, but we can only follow the procedures and there was no real harm done.

In my view, teams shouldn’t have to play two games in three days anyway. I like the games over this period more than anyone, but it’s not sensible.

They could have three days in between games instead of two and I think Jurgen will be pretty happy with how things have panned out.

Having said that, we would have played Leeds at a very good time. They’re decimated at the minute and I’m pretty sure it would have been one-way traffic that day. Hopefully the players are well-rested now heading into these two away games this week.

First up is Leicester followed by Chelsea, and it doesn’t get much more difficult than that. What we have to do is lay down a marker: we need to try and collect the six points in those two matches.

Leicester are likely to field their best side, just as they did in the Carabao Cup against us. The reason for that is Rodgers has probably looked at this game and thought he has more chance of picking points up than he did away to Man City.

It was quite feisty the other night at Anfield against Leicester, particularly given some of the unpleasant chants being sung by the away supporters, so more of the same could be a possibility.

Leicester were 3-1 up against our squad team and we blew them apart after the break, with seven players missing from our normal team.

It was a fantastic game and if we had our first eleven out, Leicester wouldn’t have got anywhere near the three goals they got.

Away from talk of the title, I would also like to wish everyone a Happy New Year - especially the Liverpool and Tranmere supporters.
