Pep Guardiola gives update on Mikel Arteta that will excite Arsenal fans

Mikel Arteta is in London to conclude the deal with Arsenal to become the Gunners' next manager, Pep Guardiola has confirmed.

The Manchester City assistant is expected to be announced as the permanent successor to Unai Emery at Arsenal, after the Spaniard was sacked by the Gunners last month.

Arteta has held talks with Arsenal earlier this week, but was in the dugout on Wednesday night alongside Guardiola as Manchester City beat Oxford United in the Carabao Cup.

However, he is expected to be confirmed as the new Gunners head coach ahead of the game against Everton at Goodison Park tomorrow (Saturday), when the Spaniard is expected to watch from the stands, before taking training for the first time on Monday.

And Guardiola has confirmed that he expects the deal to be completed shortly, after stating that Arteta was in London.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Guardiola said: "He's in London close to finishing the deal with Arsenal. It's almost done.

"He's moving to Arsenal. I don't know the last details of the contract but I think it's there.

"He decided to move there. You cannot stop it, follow your dreams and Arsenal was a big part of his career. We wish him all the best I’m pretty sure he will do a great job."

The news will come as a relief to Arsenal fans, with the search for a new head coach set to finally come to an end.
