Man City boss Pep Guardiola confirms Sergio Aguero is ruled out of Manchester Derby

Sergio Aguero will miss the Manchester derby after picking up a thigh injury against Chelsea.

Pep Guardiola confirmed today that the Argentina striker will miss "a few games" after picking up the problem against Chelsea at the weekend.

Aguero limped off with a problem during Saturday's 2-1 win over Chelsea, and Guardiola 's initial impression was that it was a serious issue.

Rodri and David Silva also had to be substituted, with cramp, but they are expected to be available for selection tomorrow after reporting no further issues.

The Blues need a point to secure a place in the knockout phase of the competition, and a win would ensure they finish top of Group C, and so will be seeded for the draw for the last 16.

Aguero's injury means Gabriel Jesus will take centre stage, probably starting with the game against Shakhtar.

Aguero will miss that, plus games at Newcastle and Burnley, before missing the clash with Manchester United on December 7, with Guardiola claiming he would need "a miracle" to make it for that Etihad Stadium clash.

After scoring five goals in his first ten games of the season, Jesus has not scored since October 19.
